Michigan State University was founded in 1855 and is located in East Lansing, next to Lansing, Michigan's capital.  MSU was originally named the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan and has since evolved into a premier multidisciplinary research university.  MSU is a Public Ivy with 50,000+ students, 5,300 acres of campus, 566 buildings, and 200+ academic programs.

Our sprawling campus is centered on the Red Cedar River and is filled with green spaces and integrated natural areas.  Campus highlights include multiple botanical gardens, the MSU Museum, the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams, the Wharton Center for Performing Arts, and the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum.  MSU is part of the Big 10 and is renowned for our athletics.
